Te Whare Tapa Wha

This year we have been learning about Te Whare Tapa Wha and how it helps us. We made a slide to show the things we do to help us for each part. We need to keep all parts of our whare strong to be happy, healthy and safe.

Term 4 Basic Facts

Last week we visited the Life Education Caravan.  We were learning about Te Whare Tapa Wha and Resilience.  Here is a google draw we made up to help us think and remember what resilience is.

 This week in writing we have been looking at recounts and how we can improve our writing.  We started looking at our writing rubrics and understanding how to find what level pieces of writing are.

Greats and Grands

In team Awa we have been learning about the Olympic Games and using this in our maths.  In class we had our own mini olympic games to help us explore measurement.   Here is a recount I wrote about this.

Outdoor classroom -Movie

 On outdoor classroom day we went out the back to make movies about hut making.  

We learned about holding the iPad properly. I also learned the movie angles.

It was easy to get water for my movie and to help as a group.

It was hard take small short movies.

I liked it because it was fun and I learned lots.

Hut Movie Making

In Team Awa had an outside learning day. We got to go outside and make huts around the back. We were learning about how movie making is like writing a story and that we needed to take different types of movie shots. Here is some examples of what I learned.

Writing with hooks

 We have been learning to add hooks into our writing to make our stories interesting.  We can use a hook to start our paragraphs which hooks in our reader.
